Every year the Salvation
Army runs a
Christmas Campaign to help single mothers
exiting or who have recently moved out of the Family
Learning Resource Center (Women's Shelter). The
Brampton Area Jeep Association (BAJA) has partnered
with the Brampton branch of the Salvation Army to
sponsor a family for Christmas.
The idea was brought to the weekly BAJA meeting,
everyone was quickly and energetically on board. In
less than a month the club members donated over
$800.00 to the purse marked for full filling the
Christmas wish list of our sponsored family. The
club has been paired with a mom and her 4 girls,
ages 13,11,10 and 3 months. A lofty task for a group
of mostly men who already have a hard enough time
spending money on their wives/girlfriends instead of
their rigs.
Using our network of
contacts we will be providing more to the family
then what was requested on the very modest wish
list. With the use of our connections, we will be
able to supply the family with these extra items:
-
laptop for the
children to do school work
-
Baby food and
formula
-
Lamaze and other
educational baby toys
-
Winter coats
-
Stoneware dishes
-
Supplies to cook a
proper Christmas dinner
We will be arranging a
convoy to deliver the gifts in person to the family
on Dec 20th.
BAJA would like to thank Natalie Persad of the
Brampton Branch of the Salvation Army for
coordinating the Christmas Campaign in Brampton.
