What an incredible year it has been for the OF4WD in
general. What started as a horrible display of
mother natures power in the Haliburton and
Bobcaygeon areas, ended in a strengthening of the
offroad community in spirit and manpower. The
overwhelming response of volunteers, to give up
valuable summer weekends, to make sure this area got
cleaned up for all user groups was inspirational.
That inspiration carried through the entire season
and Camp NL 9 was the place to be to celebrate this
success. The unofficial theme of Camp NL 9 was
family. We have never had so many children at this
event; 36 registered children! The Rate My 4x4 kids
area was never quiet! Thank you to Jeremy, Laura
and Cole for once again making this the place to
be.
We added a
few new activities this year; a Base Camp Spa for
one! This was a hit with quite a few family members
and one particular Trail Guide (don’t worry we have
pictures!) so thanks to Carmyn and Grant. The
Friday Night Juggernaut Family Jam was great fun and
loads of Rubicon Grill Wings were consumed. Thanks
to Andrew, JR, Dennis and Grant for making Friday
night a good time in the family area.
Saturday
night prize giveaways ran waaay to long this year,
but that was only because we have NEVER had that
many prizes to give away. The support from our
Sponsors was unbelievable. Much gratitude to our
headliners TMR, Gold Level sponsors Just Jeeps and
Staangs Fab, Silver Level Sponsors Autoworks Offroad,
CT Motorsports and Canada Wide Parts, and Bronze
Level Sponsors Dirty Dog 4x4, Carquest Minden, Warn,
Bushpig, Rockstar and Otis Elevators. As well huge
thanks to Rubicon Grill for getting the troops fed
and going above and beyond the call on Friday Night
Wings. Camp NL would not be possible without the
support of these businesses. As the unions like to
say “be a brother to a brother”, please take your
business to the businesses that support our
community!

The other
important factor in the success of Camp NL are the
volunteers. The Trail Guides that give up a good
chunk of their summer to make sure the main aspect
of this event; the trail rides; are successful and
enjoyable. Thank you to each and every one of the
guides and Brian, Kim and Kevin. As well thank you
to Kevin and Lorinda for our medical support and
Chris, Warren, Grant, John, Lynda, Dave and Paul.
The OF4WD BOD also deserves recognition this year
for their support of this event.
So on to
the really good stuff... It is with great pride and
gratitude I would like to share that participants in
Camp NL 9 donated a recording breaking $6,020 to the
Haliburton Highlands Health Sciences Foundation.
As well,
Camp NL 9’s headline sponsor TMR graciously donated
a Bender package to the OF4WD to be raffled off to
raise funds to assist the OF4WD with projects like
Adopt-a-Trail and trail clean ups. The Bender
Raffle draw took place at Camp NL and was won by
Jason Scott. This, along with the 50/50 draw and
individual donations at Camp NL, generated $3,420 to
be used for these projects!
The biggest
thanks of all goes to everyone who participated in
this event, without your continued support none of
this would be possible. Camp NL 10 announcements
coming very soon!!!
