In Mid October
the Five Points trail system volunteers
converged on Pigeon lake resort for a BBQ hosted by
Twins Mountain Snowmobile Club.
It was cold, windy, raining and miserable....
substitute the rain for snow and it would have been
just like the Baja Snow and Shine. All kidding
aside, the weather certainly had an effect on the
turn out, the numbers weren't quite what was
expected but given conditions it wasn't bad. The
OF4WD had the strongest attendance with visible
members of Baja, Durham 4X4 and some Tri City people
amongst others. There were members from all the
groups involved, KATVA, HATVA, and TMSC Everyone was
quite surprised and pleased with their commemorative
clean up stickers that Aaron Darling designed for
each volunteer.
Wayne from Pigeon Lake Resort and the OFSC TMSC put
on an excellent meal, a calibre far above the
typical burgers and hot dogs one would expect at such an event. OF4WD attendees got to meet
some new people from other circles and had some very
good discussions with them. An overall Great day
and step in the right direction for relationships
with other trail users.
As an added bonus, a group of OF4WD BOD members were
following Brian Sibbles up to the event when Mother
Nature tried to get the last word in and blew a tree
down across the road right in front of us. Brian was
actually following a lady in a F250 who was able to
stop just in time, and the board jumped into action
clearing one last tree for the citizens of Bob
Caygeon.
