2016 OF4WD Adopt A Road Clean Up
Article and Pictures submitted by Mark Bachman
On the 4th of June 2016, a small but fearless group OF4WD members braved the clear skies and beautiful sunshine to give a little something back to one of our off-roading “host” communities through the Adopt-A-Road program of Peterborough County.

Safety briefing before heading out to clean up
After a brief welcome and safety orientation, the group began picking up garbage along both sides of Hwy 507 starting at Flynns Corners and heading North for 4km. All told, 8 bags of garbage and 12 bags of recycling were removed from the roadsides and taken to the Buckhorn transfer station.
The group then enjoyed some cold drinks, some good conversation and a free BBQ lunch compliments of the OF4WD. After lunch, some participants started the long trek home (with some coming from as far as Markham, Brampton and even Parry Sound!!!) while others spent the afternoon enjoying the scenery on the Green’s Mountain Trail.
As one of the organizers of the annual Adopt-A-Road 507 cleanup, I’d like to thank the good people at Flynn’s Gas Station for their support of this event and the OF4WD in general. Phil at the store is always answering questions from the locals about what “those Jeep people” are doing, telling them how we are cleaning up garbage and helping the environment!!! I’d also like to thank the OF4WD for supplying lunch and for the being such a great umbrella organization to organize volunteers through. BIG THANKS go out to all of our volunteers for their hard work, including:
Billy Moxon | Vasili Gavrilov |
Alex Gavrilov | Adanna Walker |
Dave Rhymes | Matt Mifsud |
Rob Taubman | Melissa Lange |
Lisa Weber | Uwe Weber |
Jeff Noel |
All in all, it was a beautiful day, spent with great people, doing a good deed!!! Thanks to all those who made it out this year! We look forward to seeing you all again at next year’s Hwy 507 Adopt-A-Road Cleanup!
Sincerely,
Mark & Elana Bachman
