ONTARIO FEDERATION OF 4WD RECREATIONISTS

Final Newbie Run of 2015 Recap

The final newbie run of the year took place on Sunday, October 25. Newbie runs are designed for offroaders who are new to offroading, or have little experience offroading, or have not yet had anyone to show them the ropes.

Newbie runs are no pressure, guided runs. The purpose of newbie runs are primarily educational – they are meant to teach newcomers about how to offroad, the importance of treading lightly and how to do so, how to do proper recovery, and to teach the importance of communication and teamwork between drivers and guides.

This newbie run took place on Concession Lake Trail in Bobcaygeon.  Here are a few photos from the day:

Our friends at Rock Spyder 4×4 also captured this video of an advanced run for those who attended who had some previous wheeling experience and/or modified vehicles. The video really captures the communication that is necessary between the driver and the guides:

The trail guides were OF4WD board members Matt Mifsud and Chris Miles, Jim MacDonald from OF4WD sponsor Rock Spyder 4×4, Trevor Dobbs from OF4WD sponsor Just Jeeps, and grizzled veterans Chris Muir and Colin Jardine.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the run, to the trail guides, and to the run sponsors. See you in 2016 for more newbie runs!
