The torque tube is a roughly 6" tube running the length of the truck that connects the tranny to the front diff and in this case the 2 rear diffs as well.  Inside the tube is the driveshaft so that it is not exposed to possible damage.  The only exposed driveshaft on the vehicle is the a short shaft connecting the transfer case – roughly 24".  I attached a pic so people can get a better idea.
