I go up to the Temagami area 5 or 6 times a year including in winter. A favourite is Red Squirrel Road on the west side of Highway 11 about 10km north of Temagami. Depending on whether logging operations are taking place, the road is plowed or it's not. Lots of side trails off Red Squirrel to keep you happy but you better have your winter kit squared away. I have taken my 2wd truck through when the snow was 6 inches or less (good snow tires and poor judgement) and we have enjoyed a nice fire in a primitive campsite by a frozen over lake. If you are into winter camping this area rocks.
