As of this posting the trail index is down for upgrades/updates but what I’m after is the proper numbers to input into a Garmin map60cx. The last time I tried to input some co-ordinates exactly as it appears on the trail index maps it did not work.
Is there some conversion that has to be done?
    Thanks.

    Heya Farook

You should be all good with the coordinates as written.  I have the same GPS and the many of the coordinates came from my personal unit.

The index is back up now as well, so maybe this will help you.

Let me know how you make out and if it still doesn't work for ya I can give you a call and we'll go over it on the phone together.

    Cheers

Farook, you can also download the .gpx track log, copy that to a memory card and open that up in your map60cx. That way will import the first and last point (trailheads) and will draw a track log to follow on screen in between the points.

    https://www.of4wd.com/app/FileDownload.aspx?fn=trailindex/gps/DarlingHydroLine.zip

so is this the link you are talking about for downloading on to a sd card to insert into my gps.

if it is im doing something wrong, it dose not want to open it gives me a box that says:

" adobe reader could not open" "not a supported file or file has been damaged" of course there is more but this is the jist of it.

OK, so that link downloads a .zip file, which is a compressed file. Download that one, double click it, and it will open into a new folder with a file that says something like darlinghydroline.gpx

You want the gpx file on your SD card, that then goes into the GPS unit.

If your computer can't unzip the zip file, I am assuming it's an older Windows machine. Download something called WinZip and you can use that to unzip as you need to. Google winzip to find that.

Selling SD cards, or a service where you can mail yours in and pay an additional $20 to get all the known tracklogs loaded with the trail description pdfs might be worth it.

That raises the obvious issue of updates but that's simple enough to rectify with a disclaimer.

why dont we do a test to see how or it this can work.

hear is my e mail: onecog@hotmail.com

let me know what size micro sd card to mail you with how much money. and ill send it with a self adressed envelope.

you entice the gpx gods into sending down from there abode some tracks and we'll sacrifice a goat…..to apease them ofcourse. so they'll give us more (sinister laugh)

brian humor me as this might be a way to get funds for the of4wd. thanks

I'm down with this idea and it has been spoken of.  I have a file I can download already set up for this I think.  I have items inside the file that gives you a lot of info.  Example, click on a way point and it will tell you something about it.  Deep water, directional help etc.

If you want to drop off an SD card at my plaec Wednesday that is cool.  I'm working 12 hours that day so I won't be there.  I'll have to check the file size and see what it is.  If I remember correctly its not that big.  Maps is what takes up a lot of space.

ok since you would not be there anyway why dont i just snail mail
you a card and whenever you get some time you can upload the info.
just let me know an adress and card size.

this way we can know exactly what this type of service can cost someone.

    thanks again.
