A few of the Kool Kat 4×4 Club where wheeling Old Logging Trail and Concession on Saturday when we came across two trees across the trail. One Cedar and one Poplar Tree … about 4 feet off the ground and totally impassable for Jeeps or ATV's.
We were able to winch the Cedar Tree off the trail using almost a full length of winch line and a snatch block, but the Poplar Tree was not gonna budge. It was still partially rooted and long enough that it fell between several trees on the opposite side of the trail. As it was, very rare occasion … none of us had a saw of any kind.
After a couple of different attempts to move the Poplar Tree we were just about to give up, note the location for a Trail Report and turn around … it was then that a big crew of the KATVA came along. What an awesome group of people ! Some of them recognized one of our guys from the big cleanup the OF4WD helped out with. They were really helpful, jumped right in to help us and had a couple of handsaws with them. It was enough for us to cut part way through the Poplar in a couple of places then hook the winch up and break it off … and off the trail.
With the assistance of the KATVA we were able to complete the job and get them (and us) moving again !
I gotta take my hat off and commend the OF4WD and all it's members for the work done on our relationship with the KATVA. It was so refreshing to come across an ATV group and get total support and gratitude for work we were doing to keep the trails open.
There are more pictures on the KATVA Facebook page.

Wow, great job guys! Thanks for contributing to the positive relationship we've got going with Hatva/Katva and the TMSC. It's great to hear everyone happily working together for our common cause.
Just as a side note for everyone. While I don't always carry a chainsaw with me on outings, I do keep a $9 21in bow saw from Princess Auto in the tool kit, just in case. It really comes in handy and takes up little space.
