Has anyone heard anything about or been on the Kemble Mountain trails OR the trails at the end of Cape rd that go to Big Bay in Grey- Bruce. R they 2 in the same? Is it private property?? I have heard the name Kemble Mountain thrown around, then I was looking it up on google earth and seen something at the end of Cape rd. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about them. Thanks.

As far as we are aware it is on private land however it could be a road right of way. We do not have a track of the route, if someone were to get one to me I could check it out.
Cheers

I've been chit chatting with Jason over this over on the SONTT boards. I'll be checking out a few roads in the area planning on tracking the trip so I should be able to get you some good data.

Quick heads up, lots of conservation land in that area of Ontario…a quick Google search shows no less than 10 "management areas" including "Kemble Mountain Management Area that falls under Grey Sauble Conservation.
Kemble Mountain Loop is also listed on the OTC website…
Kemble Mountain offers visitors a diversity of ecosystems including upland hardwood forest, silver maple swamp, Escarpment talus slope and open fields. A network of trails along logging roads winds through the forest, taking hikers and skiers to the cliff edge for an impressive view over Georgian Bay farmlands and the village of Kemble below.
Most of Kemble Mountain Management Area has been classified as a Life Science Area of Natural and Scientific Interest (ANSI). The forest is home to two provincially rare and eight locally rare plant species.
The trails in the area are also part of the Bruce Trail System and is located on the Niagara Escarpment and falls under Niagara Escarpment Commission regulations and is listed as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
Now, I must say I have never been up to the area due to the information I have found on the web, so I can not be sure if the area in question is the same area I am referencing in this post, but I thought I would post the info to help with research.

Very nice… I'm in the process of relocating to Grey-Bruce and have been on the lookout for anything. Quite a few "no winter maintenance roads" One that makes for a scenic drive on the way home from work 🙂

I still consider Grey County home even though I have been in Barrie since 1994. We make it back over there a fair bit and it is fun driving some of those "no winter maintenance" roads. Glenelg and Bentick townships have some very good ones. I will be heading over that way on friday or a work weekend and might try and squeeze out a bit of time and check out that trail.

A year later…. Went again, trails still open. Took a proper tack this time. While there we removed some stumps and fallen trees that made a by pass almost as challenging as the original obstacle …oh yeah…the holes are still deep 😮
