    Hello everyone,

I'm a new member of OF4WD and look forward to to hitting the back country of Ontario with you all.

I recently replaced my car with a Lexus GX470 that I'll be wheeling. Pretty much as soon as I got it, I replaced all 5 Bridgestone Duellers with a set of Nokian Rotiiva AT's. So far I am pretty happy with them. Last week I had the fluids (front and rear diffs, transfer case, Transmission, engine) changed since I'm not sure if the previous owner did it. Better to be safe than sorry.

To get ready for the trails, I have a set of front recovery points on the way from Road Runner Offroad out of Australia. These are meant for the Prado 120 but after checking measurements, I expect they'll fit just right. The 120 and GX are virtually the same vehicle so I should be fine. I also picked up a Midland Handheld CB and Lil Will antenna so I can listen to you guys make fun of the guy from Toronto in a Lexus.  😉

I am not planning on lifting it, increasing the tire size or going nuts with mods but perhaps rock rails and a full skid plate package are eventually in the cards.

One project I have been planning is the design and building of a cargo drawer with sleeping base extension. I have the Baltic Birch 3/4" plywood already and am in the process of scrounging together all the bits and bobs needed to bring my idea of a perfect (to me) cargo box and sleeper to reality. Unfortunately I don't have a shop of any kind to build this in (live in an apartment building) so I'll be building the unit with my brother in law just North of Barrie. I don't think we'll be starting until April but that's okay. I'm a patient guy. Curtains and magnetic insect netting to stick over rear vent windows and moonroof should help make my rig a comfortable place for my lady and I spend nights out in the bush or while on road trips.

Anyway all, I am planning on making it out to the AGM later this month to start my involvement as a member with OF4WD.

    Looking forward to meeting you.

    Welcome aboard..

I think it is awesome to have another different rig out there and as long as you are ok not hitting the big rocks or mud I'm sure you will find trails that will make you happy. There are people with all kinds of "tastes" here and not everyone is about high lever trails. Some just like doing backroads or finding that out of the way fishing spot. Oh and you don't need the CB to listen to others make fun of your rig. Most of us have a good humor and love nothing more then trash talking others rigs, or maybe that's just me. ::) I have a Cherokee and one of the best things my friends like doing is calling it a Cherocar.  😉

Hope to meet you at the AGM

    Hello Hapia,

    Thanks for the welcome note.

I love a good laugh and look forward to the friendly banter.

It'll be great to get out of the city and into nature.

Perhaps I'll see you at the AGM this weekend.
