    Hey all,

My name is Karl, I recent got myself a Jeep Sahara 2013. Been slowly improving it to be a bit more Off Road reliable ;P

Don't have much experience in Off-Roading but I have done it with a friend near Gooderham, It's mostly private trail he has access to. I was very impressed what a stocked Jeep can do without modifications.

My Jeep didn't come with a Locker so I got a Spicer Track-Loc.

I have one question for you all, about winch's. What is your thought on a portable winch on a hitch mount? I have been reading that most of the receiver mounts support 9k LB slow pull.

Also If anyone is in Kawartha Lakes area between 26 to the 29th of July interested in meeting up message me. I would really like to do some off-roading :p

    Thanks,

    Welcome aboard..  ;D

Hitch mount winch… Just pull straight. You need to be more careful but they work. I was going to do this and still may have to if things don't move faster.  😉

    Welcome.

You have to be careful with a hitch mount winch.  I'm not familiar with the towing capacity on your model, but you need to take that into account when winching.  A 9K winch on a hitch with a 3500lb weight rating might cause issues if you don't keep that in mind and try to go full bore pull.

Thanks, I am looking into buying a new bumper. I am looking at this http://www.4wheelparts.com/Bumpers-Tire-Carriers-Winch-Mounts/Stubby-Front-Recovery-Winch-Mount-Bumper-with-Stinger.aspx?t_c=64&t_s=26&t_pt=6410&t_pn=RPP88509

Probably going to get it in the next few weeks.

    welcome

better idea going with the bumper mount instead of the hitch mount, it allows for non straight line pulls and gives you better approach and/or departure angles with the winch in place.
