Hi I need to get some parts painted, windshield frame, doors etc, I am wondering if anyone has some good feedback/someone that they would recomend. I am not looking for best job for no money, I am thinking something more along the lines of fairness, a decent job for fair coin – it is not for a Ferrari.
Any recomendations please send them my way.

The guys at FIX Autobody in Brampton did a good job on my windshield frame for a fair price. I paid $200 and warned them I was picky. I can also get you the name of a guy in Barrie a buddy speaks highly of, and is known to be picky too.

Have you thought of doing it yourself? Maybe you dont have the space, not sure.
I had pretty good success with using the colour match line of paints at canadian tire. Bang on match for my GM truck……However i was miss led on the clear coat options and used the wrong one. USE THE COLOUR MATCH CLEAR COAT, not the acrylic.

Hi Brian I am keeping that option open as well just seeing what is out there, I have heard that NAPA (in Newmarket/everywhere?) will custom mix a colour in a spray bomb as well.
Thanks everyone for the ideas

I went that route years ago, NAPA paints. It was awesome. However I went in there about three years ago no and they told me they couldn't sell me the traditional paints anymore and I had to go with this water base type at $90 a spray can. Too rich for my blood as I needed 4 cans.
That being said, k5blazer said he was in there not to long ago and heard the prices had come way down to something more exceptable.

Just for those thinking of taking the DIY approach, you can actually order VIN based factory colour matched aerosol cans right from the dealer, some even stock the popular current colours. A small can of '04 Light Kacki was about $12-15 IIRC. Just realize it is factory match which means you need to used a clear coat over top to get the same finish.

if you want true color match, you need to get the Napa stuff. They actually take a scan of your actual paint and reproduce it. It cost us $30ish for one spray can, but it was plenty for what we needed. They say its supposed to be 98% accurate. In our case, it was close, but I could still see the difference. I'm picky too.
If you go to the dealer to get "factory" color paint, it doesnt take into account the fading that occurs.
Canadian Tire carried Dupont color match paint at $12ish a can. I havent used that so I dont know if its any good. I will assume it will be just like getting factory paint from the dealer.

The napa colour match worked well for us on the Blueprint. It's durable and easy to work with.Mike is right, it's not perfect for someone who's picky – but very close.
Tiki – best part about the Newmarket Napa is that it's right across from our new location, so feel free to bring iced caps.

Great suggestion on the NAPA colour match. I scratched up my LR3 real nice this weekend, I'll give it a shot.

I've ordered the NAPA spray bomb's too, they work very well, and it's good quality automotive paint that they colour mix right on the spot for you just like a body shop does.
The water based paint that Brian mentioned is the new standard in paint. All cars in recent years have been mandated (EPA regulations) to be painted with water based paint.
That's why you hear of people complaining all the time that their paint is "softer" than their older car, or stone chips are more prevalent now than in the past. It's because of the paint.I'm not aware if the rules cover colour match spray, but it might, knowing what Brian said above, it might be, but to my knowledge, the paint isn't any more "expensive" than the old paints, sounds like one store just trying to capatalize, I would shop around.
Alternatively, you can buy real paint right from a bodyshop, and purchase a low pressure spray gun from cantire etc..
trick with that is making sure you don't have any water vapour in your air lines when you spray. -
