Found this on a motorcycle forum. I live 2 hours away. Maybe someone in the area could check it out? ???
Swift Rapids road which leads north up to the Swift Rapids Lock 43 on the Severn River. This road is about 15 kms long and I had to do over half of it in first gear. You can find it on a detailed South Central Ontario Backroads Map. The start of it can be found by drawing a line from Coldwater on Hwy. 12 over to Port Stanton on Sparrow Lake. About halfway in between is the hamlet of Burnside. The road leading north at this point is called Carlyon Line but soon becomes the Swift Rapids Road. From Hwy 400 take exit 136, go along Stage Coach Road, pick up Foxmead Road over to Carlyon then turn left at the intersection of Foxmead and Carlyon. The first few kilometers are pretty smooth. After you pass Jermey Road, you will reach a “staging area."
Keep the greasy side down. 8)

Swift Rapids has been used by wheeler's and campers for many years now but please be warned that the locals are not happy about it. They keep close eye on people and don't hesitate to confront you if you if they don't like what they see.
If you go in there, be sure to respect the terrain, don't leave garbage and be extra friendly to anyone you come across.
The Swamper 4×4 Club (I am a member) has been doing clean-ups in this area for several years now and it has proven to show the locals we are not all bad folks. Please support the same.

We're looking into this trail and getting all the info we can on it. There is some past history on the area which isn't pretty. When we get tot he bottom of the info we will post it in the trail index.
Thanks everyone

Good advice and standard operating procedure. It's a shame so many trails have these problems. Things can only get better!

It is very sad to see all the garbage left out there… I am an avid boater so don't get much wheeling in during good weather but when we have gone out this summer and hit some mild trails or even just going along some of those "no summer maintenance" roads it doesn’t not take long to fill that Trasharoo bag!

In past years we (The Swampers 4×4 Club from Barrie) have filled a 40yard bin almost consistantly with garbage, alot of it is left by campers and party'ers …. the majority is illegal dumping from businesses and households.

Last time we were there – spoke to a local who was discussted by the van that got burn in the trailhead. Most of the debris had been moved out but the damage was very apparent.
We try to travel he trail only twice a year and it's very nice area……a little of everything and a nice 1/2 day cruze.

If someone could update me on the condition of the garbage and debris left in The Swift after the Labour Day Weekend I would appreciate it.
Depending on the condition we can look into a trail clean up day to get organized.

Awesome, if you want to organize a clean up we can get bags and the trailer to you if you want it.

We ran through the area today – spoke to a local fella who said he gave up trying to clean the area years ago.
There have been three vehicles burnt there this year – 2 were not stolen, one of the fellas who has property on the lake, had his car set on fire and it caught the one parked beside as well. We gathered up 2 bags o' garbage, but there could be more done, for sure. Its the car parts, glass and wire (tire material) that could use shovels and such to remove….
I will complete a trail report;
