Getting the new tires and new driveshaft, lit a fire under my butt.

finished the exhaust.  all mandrel bent.. um.. bends.  Then painted with industrial galvanizing paint.  worked good on my last exhaust system i built!

(its dirt, not a pin hole…)

yesterday I set the pinion angle.  I put the 2 rear tires in the back of the Jeep to simulate a full tank of fuel and tools to get some weight on the suspension.  Tacked on the spring mounts and torque arm bracket, pulled out the axle and glued everything on.  Then finished her off with a coat or two of semi-gloss black.  Let it sit over night and threw it back in this morning. With no weight in the back of the Jeep the driveshaft is only off by 1 degree.  I can live with that!!  😀

Then today, I opened up the front lawn paint shop and threw a few coats of semi-gloss black on everything thats ready to install…

been busy doing little things.  non-picture worthy stuff, like wiring and re-doing stuff i wasnt happy with…

I've tried to order a copy custom license plates…
    ASSDRAGR = rejected
    A55DRAGR = also rejected…
gave in and ordered TAILDRGR.  that one should be accepted.

fuel pump and filter mount.  was going to mount 2 pumps, but want to get the Jeep going some time this summer.  maybe do that in the winter.

    DSC04037.jpg

    rear axle brake lines…

    DSC04036.jpg

winch bolted in place.  not hooked up, need to be fixed too, cant get it to free spool.  ideas??

    DSC04038.jpg

Check engine light mounting bracket.  When ever i decide to repaint the Jeep, I will be getting a custom dash made to house everything and make it stock looking.  I used a rusted out dash, cut out this piece and bolted it on.  (rotate the piece 180 degrees, thats where I got it out of the dash…) again cheap and easy…

    DSC04035.jpg

got the front shock mounts done.  kept it simple and went with Ford super duty shock towers p/n E5TZ-18183-A .  Nice thing about these, they are beefy and cheap… bought 4, total bill was $89.  they are $19 plus tax! :D:D  Had to cut them up a bit to work how i wanted them too.

    DSC04032.jpg

test mounted the shock… didnt go cheap on these.  Bilstein 7100 series.  gotta have some bling…  dunno how i'm gonna mount the reservoir…

    DSC04034.jpg

    DSC04033.jpg

tomorrow, I tackle the rear shock mounts and possibly brakes.

well she's "done" (when is a Jeep ever done?) for now..

got her out on her maiden voyage.  Trail guiding for Camp NL 9 in Minden Ontario.
I got her road worthy on Monday, drove her to get Ice cream on Tuesday and drove her (1.5 hours) up to the event on Wednesday.  rest day Thursday, then wheeled Friday, Saturday and sunday.

drives like a dream.  smooth and straight.  probably rides better than my 03 TJ did when I had it.

only problems we had on the weekend…
-fan controlled stuck on (not a bad thing)
-shock mounts need to be reworked, front too close to bottoming out for comfort and rears need the shock body turned 90 degrees so hose doesnt contact tire when fully stuffed.
-starter died on sunday. (replacement had a faulty solenoid which engaged while parked in the garage, Jeep tried to drive through the garage door.  luckly no fire and no one got hurt, no one was home at the time)

everything else was great.  new projects on the Jeep are already in the works.

    anyways, here are the pics…

Going to be installing ARBs.  Will be easier with axels out of the Jeep.  🙂

    scramarb.jpg

Multi tasking…  Doing lots, nothing gets accomplished but heres an update..

Finished tire carrier stop.  Stainless steal pin machined by TMR Customs.  Recycled the knob from the Jeep.  Also got Savvy LED tail lights installed.

    scramtail.jpg

One ARB installed.  Have to change a couple seals then it will be ready to install in Jeep.

    scramarb60.jpg

Also got new shocks.  They are LOOOOONG!!!  The old ones were too short.  Side by side pic.  old ones, 10" travel.  New ones 14" travel…
