OF4WD Signs Land Use Agreement for South Wind Trail System
On November 24, 2015, the OF4WD signed a three-year land use agreement with Ray Gervais of South Wind Motel. For the next 3 years OF4WD members have a place to offroad year round on private land with no daily use fee for the trails. Ray’s goal was to expand the wheeling community through development of trails on his property and to introduce people to offroading.
South Wind Motel is where the OF4WD holds its flagship event, Camp NL, every year. South Wind has a cottage, motel rooms, trailers, and camp sites that can be rented for nightly accommodation. Located just south of Minden, South Winds is an optimal location if you are looking to offroad in the Minden and Bobcaygeon area as it is relatively South Wind Motel.
Construction on the trails is on-going. Currently there are 10 kilometres of trails that are level 2 trails with some level 3 trails for winter wheeling. The trails were built by Ken Hoeverman of Happy Trails Construction.
The official trail opening date for South Wind is slated for spring 2016, but as of November 30 the 10 kilometers of trails that have already been built are ready and accessible for early access winter wheeling.
In order to access the trails you will need to present a valid OF4WD membership card. The card must have the current membership date on it without any exceptions. You will also need to sign a waiver form.
As these are new trails, and even though they are on private land, we strongly want to keep them in great shape. When using these trails the tread lightly policy still stands. This is a huge opportunity for the OF4WD and its members and we’re positive that we can all make sure this remains a positive relationship with Ray and South Winds Motel for many, many years.
A big thank you goes out to OF4WD board member Adrian Collison and SSO members Colin Jardine and Chris Muir for creating this relationship with Ray and for working on behalf of the OF4WD to secure this agreement.

Hi all, We use this motel very often. Ray is a great guy. I’ve seen some of the trails and they are great. I was thrilled to hear that Ray is continuing to open more trails and the the OF4WD have endorsed the union. GREAT NEWS and thank you to all for your efforts.
